2) Best paragraph from double entry of Zinn's "Progress"

Position
Zinn's history differentiates from other types of history. Zinn writes history but, is his type of history really history? The type of history that Zinn writes is not the type of history that you would read about in a textbook that is found in a classroom.

Evidence
Zinn states, "my view point in telling history of the United States is different" (p.10, para. 1). Zinn prefers to tell the story of the "discovery of America from the viewpoint of the Arawaks". Zinn's point is "not to grieve for the victims and denounce the executioners" (p.10, para. 3).

3) Individual selection from 1491.
"Our Eyes Were Appalled With Terror"-p.119
This section from 1491 talks about the plague of small pox that went throughout the different countries and groups. The areas that it spread to were "Europe, Boston, Georgia, and various locations" (p.119). During the Revolutionary War small pox took over many groups of people and different armies. This caused the wars to end quickly due to people dying at a rapid rate, "Revolutionary leaders feared that the disease would bring an end to the revolt" (p.119). Small Pox was a serious disease. It is unclear of how many people died during this era. "Disease turned whole societies to ash" (p.123). This disease terrorized groups and locations.
